Today feels like a good day, knowing my luck it probably won't be but this is me trying to think positive. I couldn't decide on an outfit this morning but luckily the second one looked great!!! It seems like a pretty casual outfit but it is a jean skirt with my bright green open shoulder shirt. I wish I could have worn my boots but I feel like it would have been too casual and maybe would look a little too much like I am from Alberta. Even though that is who I am.
hahah funny moment. So far I have screwed up on the telephone 3 times this morning and I have only been at work for technically 15 minutes maybe. I said Good Afternoon to one person, transferred a call to Michael Hall when they asked for Martin Swan(how those names got mixed up in my daydreaming head I have no Idea) and then the funniest one, someone wanted the Buffalo conference room and I transferred to the Beaver Room. The guy called back and explained what I did then said different critter!!! hahahah At least now that will make me laugh all day so I have something to smile about.
So last night I went and hung out with Emmy in Sidney. It was a lot of fun and usually what I look forward to throughout my day at work. This is one of the positives of working for Viking. It is out in Sidney which is where Dallas and Emmy live so after work I can stop by and visit then go home. This is especially convenient because if I worked in Victoria or close to home, I wouldn't want to drive out to visit during the week so this would limit visits to the weekend. So basically the opposite from what I do now. Emmy works most of the weekend minus Saturday and so does Dallas so the weekend is either my time to hang out with other friends or time alone/with Gizmo. Anywho, last night we drove around a bit and got a blizzard, then eventually went back to the house and watched Intervention!! Its been so long since I watched that show and I missed it so much. That would be my reasoning for getting cable. Intervention marathons on Saturdays. Dallas made chili and rice for supper and that was delicious and then I went home. It is always a good visit when i go there and I feel at home.
As for today, I am not sure what I will be doing this evening. Last week I made plans for either last night or tonight with a friend from work but clearly that is not what I did last night. So my hopes are that tonight doesn't get cancelled. I haven't been cancelled on so much in my life as I have out here in B.C. I have also noticed that people don't have a sense in time here. I don't know if this is an island thing or not but it is annoying. Most of the time it doesn't effect me, but even so, where and who raised people like this? Back in my day, we were at least ten minutes early for everything. This allows you to be prepared and despite what some people think, allows to blend into the crowd. Late comers are the people who people get frustrated at or stare at when they walk in a room and I suppose our family was just never like this.
The weather here today is nice and clear, blue skies and the sun is shining. The down fall to all this is that it is super windy. Like I mean next to tornado windy haha This is another thing that made me happy today. I pinned my bangs back today for a secret reason that I am trying.....anyway I pinned them back luckily on the best day I could. This way the wind cannot ruin my bangs when they hang straight down and I guarantee that it would have ticked me off all day. I know it seems small and doesn't matter but when you get paid to just sit up front and look good, the weather effecting my hair and my clothes matter a lot. It is the one thing I can feel good about doing.
So besides getting nick names at work so far, I have heard from an employee that people in a certain department were saying how good it is to have a cheerful receptionist. This is good and bad. I mean good that they like me but that is not what I was going for a month ago. Oh well at least people will remember me this way. I have the nick name smiley with the coffee maintenance guy who is always cleaning up the lunch room and I don't like this next one. Chuckles is what Tony calls me. He works in the lab and means well but chuckles is not my thing. I do not chuckle I smile. Big difference. Maybe next time I'll suggest smiley. Although when people call me smiley I think of my customers at the liquor store. Connie and Jody always called me smiley. I have never been one to agree to nick names. Once one person names me something that is their specific name for me. I suppose on the bright side everytime I'm called smiley, I can smile knowing who thought of it originally and think of the fun times at the store.
Today is Tuesday, and normally I would be at work already having my coffee with Sheryl and Steve. Talking about life and how their weekend was. This was always a great time to catch up. I also would complete the ABA beer ordering and Big Rock if we needed it and STROHS which we always needed because of Old Milwaukee. After this was ordered and paid for, the store would get a little busier with customers or we would clean up some things or sort through the wine wall. The liquor order was always late which drove us all nuts because it takes a while to put it away. It is quite the process. After the Highway 9 guy drops everything off, we take the boxes off the pallets and divide on two carts, push the carts around the store to get the items in the proper spot, once the cart is empty you return to the back and repeat this process till all pallets are empty. Once all the boxes are on the floor and the pallets are outside, we would go around the whole store and dust and place the bottles on the shelf. We usually got them all on the shelf except for the wine which always had extra, and then after every row is complete. Steve would usually fly by and grab all the empty boxes while me and Sheryl put the half boxes of the wine on the wine wall. If all this was completed early enough, I would put the new stock on the computer while we visited and wait for 4 to roll around. As you can tell I miss these days. I honestly want to help out when I'm back at Christmas.
I really don't know why anyone would enjoy reading this blog but I guess this is the best and easiest way to update people on seriously my everyday/moment of my life. Mostly what I'm thinking because I like typing and it makes it look like I am super busy. The sound of typing on a keyboard is cool as well. Someday, I'll have a job where I will be asked to type a lot of different documents or letters and all this blog writing will come in handy. I am not sure I would put it on my resume hahah
Brianne Rempel
Typing speed: 80WPM
Increased to 90WPM while being employed at Viking through Blog writing. hahah
That just doesn't look right and probably not very acceptable.
Oh what I wouldn't do for Red Bull today. This would brighten my day if someone showed up at my desk with the gift of RB. I should page this!!! Wouldn't that be funny!!!! Over the intercomm......"Would someone please bring the receptionist a RB, Would someone please bring the receptionist a RB" hahahah If everything turned out nicely, I might end up with a lifetime supply of RB. There are over 300 people that work at Viking. All of a sudden everyone would get in their vehicles and take off to get me a RB. How can you tell I'm daydreaming..... :)
This is all I have to say for now and am going to look for jobs on the internet now to pass the rest of the time before my break. Have a good day ya'll and hope ya enjoyed my blog today...
